Advent hot drinks: delicious ideas for the winter season
Advent is a magical time full of scents, lights and warmth. What could be better than wrapping yourself in a cozy blanket with a delicious hot drink? Here are some creative recipes that are perfect for a cozy Advent afternoon.
1st apple-cinnamon punch
Ingredients (for 4 cups):
- 1 liter cloudy apple juice
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 3 cloves
- 1 star anise
- Juice of one orange
- Optional: a dash of calvados or rum
- Honey or maple syrup to sweeten
Preparation:
Heat the apple juice, cinnamon sticks, cloves and star anise in a pan (do not boil!). Add the orange juice and sweeten to taste. Leave the punch to infuse for approx. 10 minutes, then pour through a sieve. Refine with a dash of Calvados to taste.
2. white hot chocolate with gingerbread spice
Ingredients (for 2 cups):
- 500 ml milk (or plant milk)
- 100 g white chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 tsp gingerbread spice
- A pinch of cinnamon
- Cream and grated white chocolate to garnish
Preparation:
Heat the milk in a pan and melt the white chocolate, stirring constantly. Add the gingerbread spice and cinnamon. Pour into cups and garnish with cream and grated chocolate.
3. winter spiced tea
Ingredients (for 4 cups):
- 4 bags of black tea
- 1 liter of water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 cardamom pods (lightly crushed)
- 2 slices of fresh ginger
- 2 star anise
- Honey and lemon juice to taste
Preparation:
Bring the water to the boil with the cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and star anise. Add the tea and leave to infuse for 3-5 minutes. Season with honey and lemon juice to taste. Enjoy warm.
4. hot orange almond milk
Ingredients (for 2 cups):
- 500 ml almond milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Peel of one untreated orange
- 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
- A pinch of cinnamon
Preparation:
Slowly heat the almond milk with the orange zest and vanilla extract. Sweeten with maple syrup and season with cinnamon. Remove the orange zest before serving.
5th Advent coffee with marzipan
Ingredients (for 2 cups):
- 300 ml freshly brewed coffee
- 100 ml milk
- 2 tbsp marzipan, finely grated
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- Whipped cream and cocoa for garnish
Preparation:
Heat the milk and melt the marzipan in it. Stir the mixture into the coffee and pour into cups. Garnish with whipped cream and cocoa.
6th Advent chocolate punch (non-alcoholic)
Ingredients (for 4 cups):
- 1 liter cherry juice
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 3 tbsp sugar or honey
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Whipped cream and chocolate shavings to garnish
Preparation:
Bring the cherry juice to the boil with the cocoa, sugar and cinnamon stick, stir well. Leave to infuse for 5 minutes, remove the cinnamon stick and pour into cups. Top with cream and chocolate shavings.
